A hugely-successful charity golf day has raised more than £4,000 to support the vital end-of-life care provided by Birmingham Hospice.

The event at Great Barr Golf Course on September 10 was organised by Tamworth-based Bold IT, in partnership with ORS UK and Birmingham Drain Services, and saw 72 golfers from 18 teams take part.

A total of £4,200 was raised for the hospice, which provides vital end of life care for those with terminal conditions throughout Birmingham, Solihull, Sandwell and Sutton Coldfield.

It was the third annual charity golf day hosted by Bold IT – with special guest and PGA golf professional, Ady Wheatcroft, also on hand to ensure it went with a swing.

Taking home the spoils after a competitive day’s action were Anthony James Insurance Brokers Ltd and their winning team of Jeremy Hutchings, Atul Patel, Nish Bathia and Mayur Vora.

Completing the podium behind them were R&Co Communications (Tom Payne, Jack Stocking, Steve Wooldridge and Will Langley) and TDG (Ian Hale, Jon Woodhurst, James Ward and Dean Adams), who tied for second place.

Bold IT partner Steven Brazier said: “The weather just about held out and we had a brilliant day among friends and our partners – a big thank-you to everyone who took part.
“We are incredibly proud to have raised thousands of pounds for the Birmingham Hospice, which we know will go a long way in supporting its important work.
“The funding challenges hospices face have been well-publicised, with many relying solely on donations to enable them to continue offering the compassionate care so many families have come to rely on.
“We’re delighted to be able to play our part and look forward to doing it all again next year.”

Birmingham Hospice needs to raise £8m a year to keep providing its services – which equates to 43 per cent of its entire budget.

Esme Lloyd-Kelly, corporate fundraiser at Birmingham Hospice, said: “The money raised will be used to support our Living Well Centres, helping patients to live well following their diagnosis.
“It means more patients can receive treatment around the clock in our inpatient units, and more patients can be treated in their own homes as well.
“Ultimately, it means we can care for more people and support them and their families.
“I’d like to say thank you to everyone who took part in the day for their generous donations. It really is so important for the care our hospice teams provide.”
