With excitement in the air at Wembley Park as it embarks on an events-filled summer, London Designer Outlet is adding to the neighbourhood’s celebrations with the announcement that British menswear brand Lyle & Scott is joining its premium fashion offering.
The heritage label will occupy more than 800 sq ft in the capital’s leading fashion and lifestyle outlet centre, which will be the fashion retailer’s only destination in London and the brand’s only outlet store to open in 2021 in the UK.
Lyle & Scott, which was founded nearly 150 years ago, originally specialised in designing and retailing Scottish knitwear. With an archive of luxury fashion designers, it was exclusively granted a Royal Warrant and has gone on to develop sporting and music heritage and appeal to the wider public. The brand will bring its iconic golden eagle-brand to LDO’s affluent catchment which includes North London and the Home Counties and join brands including Guess, Kurt Geiger, Dune, Replay, Levi’s, The North Face, Vans, Puma, adidas, Nike Outlet, Zwilling and Lindt.
Philip Oldham, Chief Executive Officer of Lyle & Scott, said: “Many of our loyal customers have favourite items of our clothing linked to treasured memories. Opening at London Designer Outlet, itself a destination that is about the sensory experience of retail, gives us an incredibly exciting opportunity to meet more of our customers and create more memories. We’re greatly looking forward to opening our new store, welcoming guests so they can experience the Lyle & Scott brand for the first time in the capital in a safe, enjoyable environment.”
London Designer Outlet, which is set among the wide boulevards of Wembley Park, welcomed a series of new retailers over the course of 2020 despite the pandemic. This included Police in its first store in the capital, British handbag and accessories retailer Radley and other international fashion brands.
The signings come as designer outlets in general, including London Designer Outlet, have shown resilience and performed well compared to other parts of the retail sector, not least as families seek value-for-money to balance the economic impact of the pandemic. Benefitting from an open-air design, top brands at seriously discounted prices, located within walking distance for the growing Wembley Park residential community, appealing dining options and an emphasis on experience and events, destinations like London Designer Outlet are well placed to attract footfall.
London Designer Outlet is managed by Realm, the UK’s specialist outlet operator, and is part of Wembley Park, the multi-billion pound transformation by Quintain surrounding the world-famous National Stadium.
Christine Grace, Leasing Director at Realm, said: “London Designer Outlet has maintained impressive momentum throughout the pandemic, signing leases with and opening the doors to new brands that guests will love. It’s a reflection of the urban outlet centre’s open air design, premium fashion and retail, vibrant F&B and excellent guest service that every time we have reopened post-lockdowns, people have flocked back to London Designer Outlet once again. Lyle & Scott is the latest brand to join our community of brands and will be a very welcome treat for our fashion-savvy guests as they look for the highest quality clothing at outlet prices.”
London Designer Outlet offers 265,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, including 70 outlet stores, restaurants and coffee shops. It offers aspirational and desirable brands at up to 70 per cent off RRP when open – and at up to 85% off during seasonal sale periods.
