Hertfordshire-based Aztek Logistics has secured a major palletised distribution deal with The Source Bulk Foods, an international zero-waste food and household product brand that is helping consumers ditch plastic packaging and live more sustainably.
The business, which operates a franchise model across multiple countries selected Aztek, part of the Pallet-Track network, for its expanding UK and Ireland business because of its own sustainable credentials.
Aztek recently re-secured two new major industry accolades recognising its ability to offer high-end services to the retail sector and top-level storage and distribution solutions for the growing organic foods market.
The Source Bulk Foods carefully selected the Letchworth Garden City business as its logistics partner because of its British Retail Consortium (BRC) AA Standard storage and distribution accreditation and the Organic Food Federation certification, both of which were achieved after extensive and far-reaching audits into its supply chain practices and procedures to guarantee the highest industry standards.
Managing director of The Source Bulk Foods, Mikayla Drummond-Murray, said: “Supply chain collaboration is the foundation of what we do so Aztek’s organic accreditation was a deciding factor in our rigorous selection – we have to find the right partners.”
The Source Bulk Foods currently operates stores in Battersea, Brighton, Chiswick, Richmond and West Hampstead, and will soon open in Crouch End and Putney, allowing shoppers to bring their own containers to purchase everything from organic wholefoods to sustainable household and beauty products.
Since it launched in the UK in 2018, its ethical philosophy has helped save over 40,000 kg from landfill and prevented 1,000,000 pieces of plastic packaging from being produced.
Managing director of Aztek Logistics, Stuart Charter, said: “Winning the Source Bulk Foods contract was a real feather in our cap and testament to the hard work of the team in re-securing the BRC AA Standard along with the Organic Food Federation accreditation.
“The deal sends a message across the logistics industry that supply chain management is more than moving items from A to B in a lorry – it’s about partnership and collaboration and being the best that you can be, as more customers expect the highest standards of service as a hygiene factor when they are tendering for new logistics partnerships.
“The accreditations really sets a business apart from its competitors and, as you would expect, achieving such recognition goes above and beyond simple industry rubber stamping.”
These are not the first top-flight accolades for Aztek Logistics this year; the business also retained the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Gold standard for safety and environmental best practice in the supply chain, for the fifth consecutive year.
At the same time, it also confirmed its retention of the FORS Bronze award as part of the annual root and branch compliance audit.
Both FORS awards recognise Aztek’s proactive approach, including ongoing investment in nine new FORS Gold standard trucks, comprising MAN tractor units, new MAN 18-tonne rigids and its first 18-tonne Volvo rigids.
This follows a series of investments across the business, including the opening of a fifth warehouse, taking its storage space to 140,000 sq. ft.
