The award-winning micro baker Ruth, from Ruth’s Little Kitchen, has launched a brand-new series of ‘Cooking Together’ classes, aimed primarily at those affected by Cancer. Ruth will be holding weekly cooking lessons over Zoom, using recommended recipes from Macmillan Cancer Support, showing how they can be adapted, simple to cook, and fun to make. Ruth’s aim is to create a supportive community for anyone to join in and learn, whilst raising money for Macmillan.

Ruth’s Little Kitchen was born and raised from Ruth’s love of baking and cooking, with the aim of bringing people together to have fun and learn new skills. The new ‘Cooking Together’ classes are just that, offering people from all walks of life the chance to cook simple, healthy, yet delicious recipes together, whilst exchanging stories. Whether it be cooking together, just watching, joining for a chat, or to watch the zoom recording, Ruth welcomes anyone to join.

Ruth Macintyre, founder, Ruth’s Little Kitchen comments: “In January 2021, I myself was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer Stage 3 and have been extremely lucky with all the care given to me and the vast number of resources available from Macmillan Cancer Support. I therefore wanted to do something to raise money for charity and decided that since I wanted to use a Macmillan resource called ‘Recipes for People Affected by Cancer’, as well doing what I love most, bringing people together to cook, it was the perfect starting point”.

The first in the series started on 21 April with a Starter and Snacks class, involving sweet potato crab cakes, with a banana, honey and hazelnut smoothie.

Macmillan Cancer Support have provided Ruth with the right guidance and information to share recipes suitable for people with: sore mouths, sickness and nausea, problems with chewing, loss of taste and smell, loss of weight and appetite, healthier eating and vegetarians.

The next class will take place on 28 April at 11am, focusing on the Main Course, cooking up a one pot fish, with black olives and tomatoes. Also, the reveal of Ruth’s favourite way to cook the flowering head vegetable, broccoli.

The following week on 5 May, Ruth will teach you the simple, yet delicious Greek honey cheesecake with apricot Desert. Also, how to make a citrus fizz drink to be enjoyed on the side.

The classes will be completely free; with donations encouraged to Ruth’s own Just Giving page which will go to the Macmillan Cancer Support to help them in continuing all their resources that are extremely helpful to all cancer patients in the UK.
