Smurfit Kappa Security Concepts (SKSC), the internationally recognised high security printing and identity management solutions provider, has opened an office in North Africa

Smurfit Kappa Security Concepts (SKSC), the internationally recognised high security printing and identity management solutions provider, has opened an office in North Africa in a move designed to further support its ongoing growth in the region, complementing its existing agency agreements and direct relationships with local Government and private organisations. It will be based at its sister company Smurfit Westrock’s site in Rabat, Morocco which includes a state-of-the-art container board and packaging manufacturing facility.

The announcement follows SKSC’s recent launch of a new service in Africa which will see it working in collaboration with local businesses, providing a range of services including consultancy and design in a move that will enable indigenous print businesses that may lack the experience and expertise in the security element, to maximise the opportunities in this fast-growing and complex marketplace. SKSC will provide design, production and logistics for documents requiring specialist security features using its expertise in both traditional and digital print.

The opportunities and benefits for the local economy were discussed during a recent visit to formalise the new office opening with Irish Ambassador, HE Mr James McIntyre who also arranged for the SKSC team to present their plans to his Ambassadorial counterparts from several African states at his residence in Rabat.

Brendan Lynch, Sales Director at SKSC, said: “The Smurfit Westrock investment in Morrocco provides us with an important base on the African continent and is an example of our commitment to creating social and economic value locally through sharing our knowledge. It will enable us to continue to grow in this important market, supporting the ongoing development of secure printing in the region for items such as passports, excise stamps, vehicle & driver credentials and education certificates, ultimately helping to eradicate fraud. We are extremely grateful for the Ambassador’s support.”
“We are also grateful to Mounir Naciri, Managing Director of Smurfit Westrock Morrocco and his team for their generous support. Mounir, by building one of the world’s most advanced packaging facilities in the World here in Rabat, has demonstrated our vision for investing in Africa.”

SKSC’s projects in the region already include the Tanzania ePassport, designed and delivered in partnership with AG2 and HID Global and its local partners SoftNet.
