Contract wins & growing volumes fuel DNA’s expansion

Gatwick-based logistics and distribution specialist DNA has added an additional 10 staff after seeing a hike in volumes driven by increased domestic transport in the wake of Brexit and the easing of lockdown restrictions.

Volumes have jumped 25% as many of its clients have seen production increase in response to growing consumer demand. DNA has also focused on diversification, using its local reputation for delivering a quality and trustworthy service to secure new clients who have been struggling with their current providers.

As a key supplier to a leading global logistic provider, the company has seen expansion at its South London depot as a result of increased activity levels associated with its business activities.

It has also recently secured a new distribution contract with a specialist wine producer and says domestic volumes have improved in the first half of the year.

“We’re seeing local producers and manufacturers ramp up volumes in the first six months of the year,” explained DNA managing director Tony Bunn. “That increased domestic transport, coupled with fewer European drivers, means we’ve seen volumes grow by around 25%.

“There’s a big emphasis on customer service and delivering added value. Luckily, as a family-run business, DNA has been built on quality and we have a strong reputation in the south-east for delivering a premium and dependable service.

“The driver market is fragile, but we are fortunate to have a great team of drivers who we treat well. We gave them a rate increase in October 2020 and will continue to be competitive.

“Our strategic purchase of Lancing Driver Training in 2019 is now paying dividends with the training programme progressing well in upskilling drivers to move into new classes of vehicles, increasing their benefits as well as advancing career opportunities.”

As a member of Palletforce, DNA has also seen a swell in network volumes with increased e-commerce and residential deliveries.

“Network volumes for our express Palletforce service and our same-day courier service have also risen, and we’ve invested in additional capacity to maintain the best possible service,” added Mr Bunn.
