Zenith Trailer Rentals has extended its fleet with Schmitz Cargobull’s new S.KO PACE SMART semi-trailers, acquiring 100 new assets to support parcel customers across the UK.

The durability of the new semi-trailers was a major factor in Zenith Trailer Rentals’ choice, as well as the shorter lead times offered by Schmitz Cargobull’s UK team after production was ramped up at their facility in Manchester.

Indeed, Zenith Trailer Rentals’ confidence in the renowned trailer manufacturer was so high, they made the order without first needing to trial a demonstrator.

Managing Director at Zenith Trailer Rentals, Phil Rodman, says: “We have more than 7,000 trailers on our fleet, but this is the first time that we have worked with Schmitz Cargobull.

“Of course, we’ve always been aware of Schmitz Cargobull products and a combination of their strong reputation for building quality assets, and a proposal that exactly matched our requirements in terms of availability and specification meant they were a natural partner for us when it came to expanding our fleet.”

The S.KO PACE SMART has been designed for durability and longevity and is the first new product to be built in Schmitz Cargobull’s Manchester factory.

Featuring innovative lightweight panels, each semi-trailer weighs approximately 600kg less than competitor models. This weight saving provides operators with a reduction in fuel consumption and therefore lower carbon emissions.

The S.KO PACE SMART also doesn’t absorb moisture, allowing the tare weight to remain consistent over time. This ensures the payload potential is maintained for the life of the asset – expected to be around 15 years for Zenith Trailer Rentals’ new semi-trailers.

Fully modular, the S.KO PACE SMART is EN 12642 code XL certified and comes with Schmitz Cargobull’s telematics system TrailerConnect® fitted as standard.

The 100 new assets at Zenith Trailer Rentals will be in operation seven days each week, primarily with parcel companies.

Rodman adds: “Ordering a trailer that’s built in the UK certainly has its advantages, particularly at a time when parts are hard to come by. Aside from the quality and long-term benefits that the semi-trailers offer, we were also impressed that Schmitz Cargobull could meet our demanding lead times.”

Headquartered out of Kirkstall Forge in Leeds, Zenith Trailer Rentals is part of the Zenith Group who have over 150,000 assets under management including cars, vans, HGVs, trailers and MHE.
