A team from Russell Roof Tiles (RRT) has completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, raising the single largest amount this year, with £6,000 being added to the charity pot.

This marks another milestone in the company’s efforts to raise £40,000 for local charities and good causes as part of its Give4Good charity initiative.

The demanding trek across the three highest peaks in Yorkshire, including Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, brought together 13 employees from various departments across all three Russell Roof Tiles sites.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge presented a formidable test of endurance, which involves a 24-mile (38.6km) round trip route and a 1585m (5200ft) ascent, pushing employees to their very limits.

Lead Organiser Alan Young, Regional Sales Director at RRT, said: “It was a difficult challenge for all involved, but everyone completed it in under 12 hours, which was a huge achievement in itself.

“We had a mix of people from our Sales, Technical, IT, Burton Production and Lochmaben Production who all took on the challenge. It was great to get people from across the company to take part. Not only that, but we also worked hard to help each other through the day as our legs tired and the muscles ached. It was a true testament to the strength of our team spirit.”

To boost morale throughout the day, the team was accompanied by Russell Roof Tiles’ support team Adrian Ryding (Technical Manager), who drove the minibus, as well as provided refreshments to his teammates to keep energy levels high.

John Dervey, Iain Simmons and Kevan McCall were the three quickest to finish, completing the challenge in just under nine hours.

The gruelling challenge concluded on a high note, with participants basking in the sunshine as they reached the finish line at Horton in Ribblesdale after completing the last peak of Ingleborough.

Collectively, the team covered approximately 835,000 steps throughout the day.

Give4Good is part of the company’s Neighbourhood and Community Investment Programme, aimed at raising a significant amount of funds for its local charities and organisations.

The company firmly believes in giving back to the communities in which it operates and making a positive impact on society through its charitable efforts.

The next charity event is the highly anticipated charity skydive, scheduled to take place on the 15th of July at Tilstock Airfield in Shropshire.

Since 2015, Russell Roof Tiles has supported over 35 different charities and causes local to its Burton and Lochmaben sites. It has hosted more than 40 fundraising events, that has seen staff dance, hike, run, cook, and even slim their way to raise money.
